Weeks 9 and 10: Presentations and Final

Begin by re-reading your first journal entry. In regards to the subject of math, have your feelings changed in any way? Explain. Now, re-read the remaining journal entries. In what areas have you grown in knowledge as to how young children learn math? Discuss in detail how you can be a factor in contributing to your students’ positive or negative perceptions of math. What are your future plans for teaching math to young children? (10 pts)

4. For week 10

  • Bring your final lesson plan to class on a flash drive. We will load it onto TaskStream together. Please also print a hard copy for your file. You may need your student number to create your Task Stream account.
  • Arrive on time! Presentations will begin at 5:40.
  • As part of your final, you will be required to assess each of the presentations. If you are not in attendance for the presentations, you will not be able to complete the assessments of the lesson plan presentations. (25 points)
  • The final will include viewing a photo of a child engaged in “play”. From your interpretation of the photo, you will plan a broad goal, specific objective, and related activity, including open-ended questions, based on one NCTM content area strand.
  • You will need to know the NCTM strands and the components. (15 points)
  • You will identify “math” in classroom routines, transitions, and everyday activities. (10 points)
