Assignment: Video Podcast

Geoff here, on CBS-2 NewsCreate, edit, and post one standards-based video podcasts. Podcasts:
• Can be instructional, or an example of a project.
• Must focus on an academic area (math, science, P.E., etc) or professional development area.
• Should be 1-3 minutes in length.
• Include you, students, church friends, or family members.
• Have an RSS feed.
• Must be posted with the RSS feed to your blog/website.

As you film:

  • Ensure subjects are properly lit.
  • Implement the rule of thirds.
  • Use at least five different shot types.
  • Shoot to edit.

After shooting:

  • Upload video to computer.
  • Import footage into editing software.
  • Edit footage

Flickr slideshow

Here is how to create a search-based Flickr slideshow of any search term:

  1. Visit Flickr‘s advanced search at http://www.flickr.com/search/advanced.
  2. Scroll down, and click on “
  3. Type in a keyword and run a search.
  4. Sort by “Most relevant” or “Most interesting.”
  5. Click the Slideshow button in the top right corner.

Include a reflection on what you learned talking to people of other faiths, and how you can share your faith in the future. Write a summary using the knowledge and ideas gleaned from your forum conversations. Your paper should:
• Be 1-2 pages in length.
• Reflect upon how missionary organizations can (or should) reach out to communities using social media.
• Include responses to the key questions listed on the forum by instructor and classmates.

Take a look at my ed tech twitter list. These are the ed tech people I follow. Follow them. Then, see who they follow, and follow them.

It takes a while to build up a personal learning network, but it’s well worth it. As with blogs, make sure to reply to people you follow, and help out when you can.

Here’s how:
Send an email to post@posterous.com. On the email, attach the audio file (your podcast). The subject of the email is the title of the blog post, and the body of the email is the post. People can subscribe to this blog with the rss feed: feed://yourblogname.posterous.com/rss.xml.
